US President Donald Trump today took to his social media platform to warn Apple founder Tim Cook, who has issued an order forcing the company to pay a 25 percent tariff on iPhones manufactured in any country other than the US. Trump has warned Apple’s Tim Cook that if you manufacture iPhones in any country other than the US, not just India, you will have to pay a 25 percent tariff to the US. Thank you for heeding this directive. Trump has posted on Truth Social that I warned Apple’s Tim Cook about this a long time ago. I expect that iPhones sold in the US will be manufactured in the US. Not in India or anywhere else. If manufactured elsewhere, Apple will have to pay at least a 25 percent tariff to the US.
Trump had earlier discussed with Apple CEO Tim Cook and asked him to stop manufacturing iPhones in India. He also advised to manufacture in America. Trump is taking such steps to promote local manufacturing under his America First policy.
