Zaira Wasim, who had worked in Aamir Khan’s blockbuster ‘Dangal’, left Bollywood in 2019 citing religious reasons. Now Zaira has tied the knot. She surprised everyone by sharing pictures of her intimate wedding ceremony on Instagram on Friday evening.
Zaira has shared two pictures from her wedding ceremony. In the first picture, she is seen signing the Nikahnama with a pen. During this, she is seen flaunting her mehndi and beautiful emerald ring. While in the second picture, Zaira and her husband are seen gazing at the moon. However, this is a picture taken from their backs and their faces are not visible in the photo.
Zaira, who turned bride, is seen wearing a red chunri with gold thread embroidery at her wedding, while her husband is wearing a cream-colored sherwani and a matching stole. Sharing pictures from her secret wedding, Zaira simply wrote in the caption, “Qubool che x3.”
Zaira Wasim shot to fame at the age of 16 with Aamir Khan’s film ‘Dangal’ (2016). In the film, she played the childhood role of wrestler Geeta Phogat. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her strong performance. She then played another commendable role in ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017), which further solidified her position as one of Bollywood’s most talented young actresses.
Her last film was ‘The Sky Is Pink’, which starred Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar. The film, directed by Shonali Bose, was released in October 2019.
However, in 2019, Zaira announced her exit from the film industry. She said that acting was against her religion. In an emotional note, she said, “This industry gave me a lot of love, support and appreciation, but it also took me down a path of ignorance, as I silently and unknowingly drifted away from faith.” She further said that the entertainment industry ‘interfered with her relationship with religion’, which led her to take the difficult decision to walk away from it.
