‘Barbaric and inhumane…’ Rashid Khan rages over death of Afghan cricketers in Pakistani attack

Eight people, including three young cricketers, have been killed in an air strike carried out by Pakistan in Afghanistan, while seven others have been injured. This incident has spread an atmosphere of grief and anger in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s star cricketer Rashid Khan has strongly criticized this action of Pakistan and called it ‘barbaric, immoral and inhumane’.

Afghanistan’s star cricketer Rashid Khan expressed his anger by posting on social media platform ‘X’. He wrote, ‘I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives of civilians in Afghanistan due to Pakistan’s air strike. This is a tragedy in which the lives of women, children and young cricketers have been lost, who had dreamed of representing their country at the world level.’

Calling Pakistan’s action immoral, he said, “Targeting civilian infrastructure is completely immoral and barbaric. These unjust and illegal acts are grave violations of human rights and should not be ignored.”

Following this attack, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided to withdraw from the upcoming tri-series. Rashid Khan has supported this decision of the ACB. He wrote, “I welcome the decision of the Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) to withdraw from matches against Pakistan, as they lost their lives due to this act done to innocent people. I stand with my people in these difficult times, our national pride should always come first.”

According to reports, three young Afghan cricketers Kabir, Sibgatullah and Haroon are among the eight people who died in the Pakistani airstrike. Following this incident, the ACB has decided to withdraw from the T20 tri-series against Pakistan, which was to be played between Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in November next month. This sad incident has caused deep grief in the sports and political world of Afghanistan.
