BCCI announces date-venue of mini auction for IPL 2026

After the process of player retention for the IPL 2026 season is complete, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the date and venue of the next mini auction. According to the information given by the BCCI, the IPL 2026 auction will be held on December 16, 2025 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

The 10 franchises of the IPL submitted their list of players when the retention window closed on November 15, 2025. In which the 10 teams have retained a total of 173 players, including 49 foreign players. There are only 77 slots left for the teams to fill for the next auction. The combined purse of all the teams is Rs 237.55 crore.

With each team allowed to retain a maximum of 25 players, Punjab Kings have retained the highest number of players, 21, while Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans have retained 20 players each.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will enter the upcoming auction with the highest amount. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has the highest amount of Rs 64.3 crore. KKR has released players like Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell, which has increased its purse. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will have the second highest amount of Rs 43.4 crore to fill the nine available slots.

In this mini auction to be held in Abu Dhabi, teams will bid strategically on players to fill their remaining vacancies.
