Let us tell you that Quinton de Kock announced his retirement from international cricket after losing to India in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. However, now he has changed his mind and has ensured his availability to represent the South African cricket team in limited-overs cricket.

In the first T20 International match against Namibia, South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. De Kock, who came to open, could not last long at the crease. Namibian fast bowler Gerhard Erasmus dismissed him for just one run in the first over. Reeza Hendricks also failed to make an impact, due to which South Africa’s score was 25 runs for 2 wickets by the fifth over.

Rubin Harman and Luan-Dre Pretorius led the South African innings. Although Rubin Harman remained aggressive, Ruben Trumpelman ended the partnership. Pretorius was also dismissed soon after, but Jason Smith took charge with a 31-run innings. He was well supported by the lower order batsmen and South Africa scored 134 for 8 in 20 overs. Trumpelman was the most successful bowler for Namibia, taking 3 for 28.

Namibia was chasing the target at a slow pace and the early dismissals of Jan Frylink and Laureen Steenkamp put them on the back foot. Captain Erasmus played a brilliant 21, but Fortuyn dismissed him. After the dismissal of JJ Smit and Malan Kruger, it became difficult for the Namibian batsmen to score boundaries. South Africa was moving towards victory in this low-scoring match, but Zane Green dashed their hopes. He batted brilliantly and scored an unbeaten 30 runs off 23 balls to lead his team to victory.
