Don’t want to waste my time: Trump’s ‘no’ to talks with Putin on Ukraine

  • Trump wants China’s help on Ukraine
  • Earlier, Trump had said that he wants to talk with Putin on Ukraine in Budapest, Hungary: The two had a summit in Alaska

President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he doesn’t want to waste his time and doesn’t want to meet President Putin either. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, he said this and added that he wants China’s help on Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Trump had said that he wanted to talk with Putin in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. But the summit held in Alaska was not successful. After this, Trump said that at that time I was hoping that an agreement would be reached on Ukraine. But that didn’t happen. Our talks were frustrating. So now I don’t want to waste my time talking to Putin. Earlier, both the leaders had said that the talks were successful and had also addressed a joint press conference. Then both of them had agreed to hold a second summit, and Putin had also invited Trump to Moscow. Where he had also asked to hold a second summit. But Putin is not giving in to his demands. Therefore, the way forward has been blocked.

In these circumstances, President Trump wants China’s help. China buys the most crude oil from Russia. India is next. Trump has been continuously saying that China and India should stop buying oil from Russia. If they do not do so, Trump has also imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India.

Trump, in his conversation with reporters on Air Force One, had once again said that he was the one who stopped the India-Pakistan war. India rejects this and says that Trump had no role in stopping that war. The war was stopped at the request of the Pakistani commanding officer.
