Amidst the massive massacre being carried out by Israel in Gaza, a water ship carrying flour, water, milk, medicines, baby diapers, and sanitary pads is rapidly moving towards Gaza. The reason for this is to provide humanitarian aid to the people who are starving and dying. Another intention of this is to break the blockade in Gaza. But now a controversy has also started over it. At the center of this controversy is Greta Thunberg. The ship heading to Gaza is called ‘The Madleen’, which is affiliated with the human rights organization Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC). The ship is named after Madeleine, Gaza’s first and only fisherwoman. The ship left the Italian port of Sicily on June 1 and, if the Israeli navy does not create any obstacles, it can reach Gaza by June 7, covering a distance of 2000 kilometers. The ship is carrying several human rights activists, including 22-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, but Israel has been alerted about it. The ship is carrying medical supplies, food and other essential items. In addition to Thunberg, there are 11 other activists on board, including French MP Rima Hassan, Germany’s Yasmine Jarr, France’s Baptiste Andre, Brazil’s Thiago Avila, France’s Omar Faid, Pascal and Yanis Mahdi, Turkey’s Suyab Ordu, Spain’s Sergio Torbio, Netherlands’ Marco van Rens and France’s Reva Viard.
