‘I will not run for Vice President in 2028, two great leaders can be contenders’, Trump’s big statement

US President Donald Trump on Monday categorically ruled out the possibility of becoming Vice President in the 2028 elections, but did not give a clear answer on running for the presidency for a third time. He said, ‘This would be a very clever thing, people would not like it. This would not be right.’

President Trump spoke to reporters while leaving for Tokyo from Malaysia. He said, I have no intention of becoming Vice President. This would seem like a joke, and people would not accept it.

According to Reuters, Trump has jokingly talked about becoming President for a third time several times. He also wore a ‘Trump 2028’ hat at rallies. However, under the 12th Amendment to the US Constitution, a person who is not eligible to become President cannot become Vice President.

Steve Bannon, former strategic advisor to Donald Trump, told The Economist that, “They are working on a plan to change the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, which will allow Trump to run for a third term. Trump will become President in 2028 and a plan is ready for that.”

On the question of fighting in court for a third term, Trump said, “I have not thought about it yet. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are excellent leaders and can be strong contenders for the presidency in 2028.”

This statement by US President Donald Trump has increased confusion about the future of the Republican Party. Many leaders in the party have already started preparing for 2028, while some Trump supporters want him to remain in power for a long time.
