The influenza outbreak seems to have returned in Malaysia. As 6000 students in the country have been affected by it, schools and colleges have been closed.
Malaysian Health Department Director General Mohamad Azam Ahmad said on Monday that we have been prepared to deal with the epidemic since the time of Covid-19. Therefore, to protect children and students from this epidemic, we have closed schools and colleges. In addition, public meetings and ceremonies have been closed.
He further said that since schools and colleges are closed, their group activities and sports have also been closed.
The official also admitted with regret that by Monday evening, 97 areas had to be declared influenza-affected. The number was only 14 the week before.
Informed sources say that the Malaysian government has taken swift action to address the seriousness of the situation. Hospitals have been deployed. However, no deaths have been reported from the epidemic so far.
