A fire broke out in a building in Gulzar House near Charminar in Hyderabad on Sunday morning. The accident has claimed 17 lives so far, including 8 children. So far, 10 to 15 people have been safely evacuated. Some people are still trapped in the rubble and rescue operations are underway.

The cause of the fire is said to be a short circuit, but it has not been officially confirmed yet. According to the police, the building was three-storeyed and the fire broke out on the ground floor. All the deceased lived on this floor.

The fire department received information at around 6:30 am, after which the team reached the spot and started rescue operations. Many people were found unconscious and about 10 people have been admitted to the hospital.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the accident and gave necessary instructions to the officials. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and AIMIM MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The Chief Minister’s Office has directed to provide immediate treatment to the injured.

PM Modi has expressed grief over the tragedy. The PMO wrote on X – ‘Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the Hyderabad fire incident.’ Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured from the PM Relief Fund (PMNRF).
