A 48-hour ceasefire is in effect between Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, unrest continues in Balochistan. Here, the ‘Baloch Liberation Front (BLF)’ has claimed responsibility for taking hostage a police patrol team in the Dhadar area, which points to rising tension in the region. The BLF has claimed that its fighters took hostage police officers in Dhadar. Moreover, the ‘Baloch Republican Guards (BRG)’ has claimed responsibility for an explosion in which a vital gas pipeline between Sui and Kashmore has been severely damaged.
According to The Balochistan Post, a statement by BLF spokesperson Major Gwaram Baloch indicated that at around 5 pm, the militants came across a police patrol team in the Allah Yar Shah area of Dhadar. According to his statement, the patrol team was surrounded, the officers were arrested, their weapons were seized and the vehicle they were using was set on fire.
The BLF spokesperson further clarified that during the initial interrogation, it was found that the hostage-takers were not involved in any action against the Baloch community or the national movement, for which reason they were released unharmed. According to a TBP report, the BLF has taken full responsibility for the entire operation.
On the other hand, according to BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch, his organization planted explosives on the 36-inch diameter gas pipeline going from the Sui area of Dera Bugti to Karachi, between Sui and Kashmore, during the night, resulting in heavy damage. The BRG statement clearly states that this attack is part of their ongoing campaign, which will continue until their political demands are met.
