PM Modi and Trump may meet at ASEAN summit, first meeting possible after tariff dispute

Amid the ongoing trade tensions between the US and India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet President Donald Trump soon. Both the leaders are likely to attend the ASEAN summit to be held in Malaysia this month. There are reports of a possible meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Trump.

The 47th ASEAN summit will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from October 26 to 28. Prime Minister Modi will go to Malaysia to attend the ASEAN summit on October 26-27. Malaysia has also invited US President Trump to attend the summit. If Trump accepts the invitation, a meeting with the Prime Minister may be possible.

The US imposed the highest tariffs on Indian products compared to other countries, due to which there has been a rift in the trade relations between the two countries. Therefore, this meeting can prove to be extremely important. PM Modi and Donald Trump will meet face-to-face for the first time since Trump imposed a 50% tariff on India.
