Ranbir Kapoor to revive grandfather Raj Kapoor’s banner

  • Announcement to be made on Raj Kapoor’s birthday in Dec.
  • Talks that he will make a film with Deepika under the direction of Ayan Mukherjee

According to the discussions that have started in Bollywood circles, Ranbir Kapoor is reviving grandfather Raj Kapoor’s banner RK Films. This film will be directed by Ayan Mukherjee and Ranbir and Deepika Padukone can play the lead roles in it. It is likely to be a family drama as per the style of RK banner.

Raj Kapoor started this banner in 1948 with the film ‘Aag’. After that, some of the most memorable films in the history of Hindi cinema including ‘Shri 420’, ‘Awara’, ‘Barsaat’, ‘Jagte Raho’, ‘Sangam’, ‘Mera Naam Joker’ were made under this banner. Raj Kapoor’s last film during his lifetime was ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ in 1985. After his death, his sons Randhir, Rajiv and Rishi Kapoor directed ‘Hina’, ‘Prem Granth’ and ‘Aa Ab Laut Chale’ respectively under this banner. However, after that, this banner was closed. Mumbai’s huge RK Studio was also sold.

Now, according to the discussion, Raj Kapoor Film Festival will be held next December on Raj Kapoor’s birthday. Some of his old films will be re-released in it. Along with that, Ranbir Kapoor can announce a new film.
