Team India’s grand victory by an innings and 140 runs in the Ahmedabad Test

The first match of the two-match Test series between India and West Indies was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India won by an innings and 140 runs. After lunch on the third day (October 4), West Indies’ second innings was bundled out for 146 runs. Ravindra Jadeja gave an all-round performance for India in this match. Apart from scoring a century, he took four wickets in the second innings.

Chasing a huge lead of 260 runs given by India, the Caribbean team was in trouble after 5 wickets fell early in the second innings of West Indies. However, after lunch, Jadeja again made a splash and the West Indies team surrendered for 146 runs.

In this match, the Indian team declared its first innings at 448 for 5. India took a lead of 286 runs in the first innings, while the West Indies were all out for 162 runs. The second and final Test match of the series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10.

The West Indies batsmen also performed poorly in the second innings. The visiting team lost five wickets for less than 50 runs earlier in the day. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed John Campbell (14 runs), Brandon King (5 runs) and Shai Hope (1 run). Mohammed Siraj dismissed Tejanarayan Chanderpaul (8 runs). Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav dismissed captain Roston Chase cheaply. After the fall of five wickets, Alik Athanas (38 runs) and Justin Greaves (25 runs) put on a 46-run partnership. After this partnership was broken, India’s victory became a mere formality. Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets in the second innings, while Mohammed Siraj took three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets and Washington Sundar took one wicket.

Team India’s KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja scored brilliant centuries in the first innings. Opener KL Rahul scored 100 runs in 197 balls, which included 12 fours. This was Rahul’s 11th Test century and his second Test century at home. While Dhruv Jurel scored 125 runs in 210 balls, which included 15 fours and three sixes. While Jadeja, who was the star of this Test, scored an unbeaten 104 runs in 176 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes.
