TIME, the leading American magazine that publishes the list of the world’s richest people, has released the list of the world’s 100 philanthropists for the first time. India’s top industrialist and Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Foundation founder Nita Ambani have emerged as the country’s largest donors with donations of Rs 407 crore in 2024. Former Wipro chairman Azim Premji and Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath have been included in this list.

According to Time magazine, these philanthropists, institutions and non-profit organizations of the world have donated generously when society needed them the most. The list of the world’s 100 philanthropists has been divided into four different categories: Titans, Leaders, Trailblazers and Innovators. The Titans category also includes the name of Azim Premji, former chairman of Indian IT company Wipro. He is working towards improving education in India. He is known as one of India’s most generous philanthropists. Azim Premji is the first Indian to sign the Giving Pledge and donated more than $29 billion worth of shares in his Wipro company to his foundation in 2013. He founded this organization about 25 years ago. Apart from this, in 2023-24, he donated $109 million to 940 organizations in the fields of education, health and other sectors.
