Trump threatens 100 percent tariff on China

  • US President furious as China imposes restrictions on rare earth
  • Tariffs on Chinese goods, restrictions on software exports will be implemented from November 1: Trump’s warning of trade war
  • China wants to hold the world hostage, there is no point in meeting Jinping: Trump

China has banned the export of rare earths and other items used in the manufacture of high-tech products such as smartphones, electric cars, defense industry targeting the United States, due to which US President Donald Trump has become furious. Against China’s restrictions on rare earths, Trump has threatened to impose additional 100 percent tariff on products imported from China and restrictions on software exports, due to which there are signs of a trade war again after a long uneasy peace between the US and China.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced an additional 100 percent tariff on China and restrictions on software exports on or before November 1. Donald Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social that the 100 percent tariff will be different from the current 30 percent tariff on China. Based on any future action or change taken by China, that is, from November 1, a total of 130 percent tariffs will be applied to China. Along with this, Trump will impose restrictions on all important software exports from the United States.

Along with this, Trump has also given indications of postponing his meeting with Chinese President Jinping during his visit to South Korea this month. Trump said that China has decided to impose restrictions on the export of rare earth minerals on a large scale, which will affect every country in the world. This aggressive attitude of China on rare earth minerals is hostile to the world. China has sent a letter to the countries of the world, saying that from November 1, 2025, it will impose restrictions on the export of almost all of its products and some products that have not been manufactured. Trump said, “I always thought China was sitting on the fence and as always I was right. But China cannot be allowed to hold the world hostage. We have had a very good relationship with China in the last six months, which makes it hard to believe that China would take such a step, but it has taken this step. This has never happened in international trade and this is a moral insult in dealing with other countries.

Along with this, Trump has also indicated that he will cancel the meeting with Chinese President Jinping at the APEC in South Korea later this month. Trump said, I was supposed to meet President Xi Jinping in two weeks, but now it may not be necessary. However, he later told reporters that he has not officially canceled this meeting, but its future has become uncertain. I will go for APEC, but I do not know if we will meet.
