Two new teams qualify for T20 World Cup 2026 : now only one team remains

Wednesday (October 15) was a historic day for the cricket teams of Nepal and Oman. Both these teams have successfully qualified for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2025 through the Asia and Asia Pacific Qualifiers. This mega event is to be held in India and Sri Lanka. This achievement is more special for Nepal, as it has qualified for the T20 World Cup for the second time in a row.

The ICC has confirmed the qualification of Oman and Nepal even before the Super Six matches. Considering the results of UAE’s victory against Samoa and their clash against Japan on Thursday, it is now mathematically certain that Oman and Nepal will secure their place in the top three.

With the qualification of Oman and Nepal, 19 out of the 20 teams participating in the 2025 T20 World Cup have now been decided. The third and final place in the qualifiers is still being contested by teams like UAE, Japan, Qatar and Samoa. The team that will make it to the top three from this tournament will get a chance to play in the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March.

The African qualifier teams were also recently announced, which will play in the World Cup. Now that the picture of the remaining teams is clear through this Asia qualifier, the preparations for the global cricket tournament will get even more intense.
