Arun Khetarpal was born in Pune, Maharashtra. He was part of the Indian Army’s ‘Puna Horse’ regiment. Arun Khetarpal, who was martyred on the border in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war, had risked his life for his country at a young age. The 21-year-old Arun Khetarpal was an officer in the Indian Army who forced Pakistan to kneel with his bravery. At the age of just 21, he destroyed several Pakistani tanks.
Arun Khetarpal was awarded the highest military honor, the Param Vir Chakra, for his sacrifice. In 1971, in the battle near the Basantar river, Arun Khetarpal’s tank was destroyed by the Pakistanis, but even after that, he did not lose courage and continued the war with his bravery and sacrificed his life by destroying several Pakistani tanks. Arun Khetarpal’s name is among those brave soldiers of the Indian Army whose example is given to other soldiers in the Indian Army even today.
