- Teaching proper breathing techniques
In Chicago, people gather near Lake Michigan to shout loudly to relieve stress. This initiative was started in the summer by a club called SCHEME, which is becoming popular. This is a new way to relieve stress as more and more people are looking for a way to relieve stress. This group meets every Sunday at 7 pm on the North Avenue Beach Pier to shout. The group was started by Manny Hernandez, a breathwork coach who shows options for relieving stress.
People are invited to shout on social media. More than 100 people gather for this unique breathwork. The activity started voluntarily with five people. If a person shouts to relieve the tension within himself, he starts to think he is crazy. If he does this activity sitting at home in a residential area, the neighbors get scared, hence the secluded place of the lake is chosen. The correct and good breathing technique is taught so that the body and mind feel relaxed.
First, five breaths are taken through the nose. Inhale for four seconds and exhale for four seconds. After that, a small biodegradable paper is given on which the bad experiences of the week are written and thrown into the water with the intention of forgetting them. When the writing paper is thrown into the water, loud shouting starts, some even have tears in their eyes.
Since everyone shouts at the same time, a huge sound is emitted, but there is no discomfort. Some people feel like they are listening to music even though they are screaming. It is a good alternative to suppressing the stress that arises from lifestyle. This brings control over emotions. People feel that a positive change has taken place in their lives. .
Young and old people come closer to each other by talking about their experiences and struggles. There is no fee for this training. The method of reducing stress through screaming is not new. In the 1970s, former Beatles singer John Lennon and other famous personalities underwent primal scream therapy under the direction of psychologist Arthur Janov in Los Angeles. Janov’s theory was that any pain repressed in childhood can lead to neurosis and create obstacles to creativity. Janov taught that screaming is necessary to get rid of pain.
